Art against war in Villa Venecia

    Lifestyle

Under the slogan 'Make Art Not War', the boutique hotel Villa Venecia, the only five-star accommodation located in the centre of Benidorm, is hosting a graphic exhibition with works by renowned international artists in support of peace, integration and against any form of violence.

With this pictorial exhibition, the hotel, which belongs to the hotel chain Magic Costa Blanca Hotels & Resorts, wants to make its small creative contribution to raise awareness about the current world situation that is being experienced nowadays in areas such as Ukraine or the Gaza Strip.

The work that opens the exhibition and gives the exhibition its title, 'Make Art Not War', was created by the artist Obey during the Iraq war and is inspired by the world famous slogan of the 60's 'Make Love Not War' born in the middle of the Vietnam war.

In addition to 6 graphic works by Obey himself (American urban artist and graphic designer, famous for the iconic "Hope" poster used by Barack Obama during his presidential campaign), the Villa Venecia boutique hotel exhibits Banksy's well-known graphic work 'Children playing on the gun mountain', Picasso's graphic work 'Sardana de la Paz' (with his world-famous Dove of Peace) and one of the original sketches of the work 'The radiant baby fertility suite' by the artist and social activist Keith Haring.

Villa Venecia Hotel Boutique, exclusive accommodation with rooms inspired by the Valencian Community, has been recognised among the best luxury establishments in Spain and belongs to the 'Villas Gallery' line of Magic Costa Blanca, four and five star hotels that are committed to added values such as art and design. The exhibition can be visited, both by guests and the general public, in the facilities of the hotel, located very close to the Church of San Jaime in Benidorm.

    "Art and solidarity at Christmas".

For Javier García, vice-president of Magic Costa Blanca, hosting works by international artists such as Picasso or Banksy in one of the chain's hotels fulfils a double objective: "The exhibition, firstly, puts the value of tourist accommodation as spaces full of life; places capable of hosting art and exclusivity. Secondly, showing graphic works against war, especially at a special time like Christmas, demonstrates our social commitment and our solidarity with all those who, unfortunately, continue to suffer from this type of scourge".
